Multi-platinum global superstar Bret Michaels is known for being the front man for one of rock’s most iconic bands, “Celebrity Apprentice” winner and Reality TV Star, but the larger than life rocker is also known for his huge heart and passion for philanthropic efforts. Michaels has diligently raised money for diabetes research, Veterans charities and Childhood Cancer Research, among other initiatives over the years with his own charity, The Life Rocks Foundation, and is now working on bringing awareness to another charity that has hit his heart—Camp Amigo. Michaels, along with Women Behind the Badge, will be raising awareness and money for the camp during the inaugural Beach Town Music Festival held at Indian River County Fairgrounds, December 8-9, 2017, where Michaels is headlining on Saturday, December 9.
“A little while back I met a woman named Danielle who was part of group in Florida called Women Behind the Badge. They were selling calendars to raise money for a place called Camp Amigo,” explains Michaels. “When Danielle explained how the camp was changing so many lives helping provide an awesome experience for children that have suffered severe burns to their bodies, I knew I had to help out in any way possible. Camp Amigo and Women Behind the Badge is truly an amazing cause. Through this charity, these great kids will have the opportunity to just go and be kids while at the same time forming lasting friendships.”
One of the resources Michaels used to help bring awareness is the upcoming Beach Town Music Festival where he is the headliner on Saturday night. Knowing the festival would have multiple vendors on the festival site, Michaels reached out to reserve a special spot for Brevard County’s very own Women Behind the Badge, so they could sell their 2018 calendars with all proceeds to go to Camp Amigo. The calendars cost $20.00 with all proceeds to benefit Camp Amigo and can be purchased online at https://m.facebook.com/2018womenbehindthebadge
“I was so touched how Bret took a real interest in both Women Behind the Badge and Camp Amigo. We just want to give back to the kids and if we can change just one child’s life, then that’s all that matters. Having Bret step in to make that a reality is just amazing.” says Danielle Souba with Women Behind the Badge. “He was instrumental in making this all happen and we are blown away and thankful that someone of his celebrity would step up in this way.”
Camp Amigo exists to provide kids who have physical and emotional scars a place to be themselves and build a network of support that will last throughout their lives. The camp is fully funded by private donations and the campers stay free of charge. For more information, visit www.campamigo.com.
