Glen Campbell Museum and Performance Venue to Open in Nashville

The life and impact of late country legend Glen Campbell will soon have a permanent home in downtown Nashville, with a new museum and music venue announcing plans to set up shop.

Slated for the corner of Broadway and 2nd Avenue in Nashville’s iconic honky tonk tourist district, The Glen Campbell Museum and Rhinestone Stage will feature more than 4,000-square-feet of space and a wide variety of attractions, all meant to celebrate one of country’s first crossover superstars.

A highly-respected guitar player in the famed “Wrecking Crew” of Los Angeles studio musicians in the early ’60s, Campbell first found success behind the scenes of hit recordings by pop legends like Frank Sinatra and rock pioneers like The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley and more. But he soon moved into the limelight for himself, sending classic tunes like “Gentle On My Mind,” “Wichita Lineman” and more to the top of the country charts and earning multiple Grammy Awards. He was also a TV star, hosting his own Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour and appearing in films like True Grit, but passed away in 2017 following a heartbreaking slide into the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

All of that legacy will be on display at the new museum, with personal items like guitars and stage clothes standing alongside mementos from Campbell’s career — as well as evidence of his humble beginnings on a farm in Arkansas. But the Campbell estate plans to do more than just look back, and each night the museum will be transformed into “The Rhinestone Stage,” capable of hosting intimate live shows from acts big and small alike. Once completed, it will be one of many museums in the area including establishments dedicated to George Jones, Johnny Cash and more.

The Glen Campbell Museum and Rhinestone Stage is expected to open in early 2020, with a blowout grand opening party to be announced soon.
