As part of his “work hard, play hard” Redneck Riviera lifestyle brand, John Rich has teamed up with Portland, Oregon-based Eastside Distilling, Inc. to create a new American blended whiskey. The best part? A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Folds of Honor non-profit organization, which provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen and disabled service members.

After more than 7 months of perfecting the blend, the new spirit came to life at the recent launch party, which was held at John’s elaborate home in Nashville. Complete with a full bar, performance stage, and stunning view of the Nashville skyline, the countrypolitan vibe of the event matched John’s big personality. Special guests included Gretchen Wilson, Big Kenny (of Big & Rich), Ronnie Barrett (founder of Barrett Firearms), and Brian Kilmeade of Fox and Friends.

A mixologist was on hand to deliver four signature cocktails featuring the new Redneck Riviera Whiskey, including a Boulevardier and a “Redneck Mule.” My favorite was the Stetson, which featured blackberries and citrus to bring out the vanilla notes of the dangerously smooth whiskey. But the woman who had the ultimate seal of approval on the taste was none other than John’s grandmother… Granny Rich.

“My Granny Rich is 85… she still works 40 hours a week… she has no assistant, she lives by herself… and she’s been a whiskey sipper since she says 14 years old, which is probably true.”

He took the final product to her and turned her sewing machine into a bar, pouring two shots. After taking a small sip, then quickly downing the rest of the shot, she said:

“Well John Daniel, I think you’ve done rung the bell with this one!”

Redneck Riviera Whiskey will be on shelves starting in February, primarily in the southeast region, with plans to be in all 50 states by next year. You can sign up to receive alerts about when it will be in your area by going to
