Go ahead, call me a homer now. I want to introduce you to a couple of folks with direct links to South Florida and myself. The most truly satisfying thing over the years has been to watch these artists grow, mature, and see the success they are achieving. So here is some new stuff from Nashville with South Florida roots.
Mark Bray – “For Love”
Mark actually spent some time in the DJ Booth with me for awhile until he moved home to the Baltimore area. Here we are some 10 years later and his latest single “For Love” is sitting at #62 on the Music Row charts and his new EP is coming out soon. Mark draws influence from a variety of places but you’ll immediately be back in the 90’s grooving to this fun look at what we men will do for love. His easy country charm and laid back delivery will leave you tapping your toe and smiling. As traditional country slowly finds its way back, here is someone to keep an eye on! If you’re ever in and around the Baltimore area, catch him and his band The Steel Soul Cowboys at a venue near you. You won’t be sorry.
And as a bonus if you go to his Facebook page, there is a link to a free download of another song very near and dear to me called “Broken.”
Maggie Baugh – “Catch Me”
One of my favorites Maggie Baugh continues to impress. This new video out for the title song of her latest album is gaining a lot of momentum. I’ve had the pleasure of watching her grow up in front of me and believe me; Maggie is maturing into one of the brightest young female artist. She now splits her time between South Florida and Nashville and tours all over recently playing the Texas State Fair. She is an engaging young singer/songwriter and can play anything with strings including what she calls a “Ganjo”, a custom guitar/banjo combination. If you look on YouTube, I’m sure you’ll find the video of her performance with the legendary Charlie Daniels on “Devil Went Down To Georgia.” Her latest album “Catch Me” charted #53 on the ITunes album chart when it was released earlier this year, and she signed a deal with Cold River Records and William Morris Agency. Keep your eyes on Maggie; I see such huge things ahead for her.
Michael Ray – “Get To You”
And I of course would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention my boy Michael Ray and his latest “Get To You.” Look for Michael out on his first headlining tour this fall!
So there it is, as the weather turns cooler some hot new country from Florida to warm your ears!
